Search FAQs
You can do it in just two steps, in two ways

Method 1
Step 1: Select the Act (say, Income Tax Act) by clicking on the Statutes Menu and scrolling down this alphabetical list of Book. You will reach the first page of the Book you select (in this case, the Preamble to the Income Tax Act, 1961).

Step 2: Type in S.115JAA in the Book Search box in the Left-hand Panel. Bingo! Before you can say Raju is my uncle, you’ve reached the section!

If you are already on some topic in the Income-Tax Act, 1961, Step 1 is unnecessary. Step 1 is necessary only if you want to search for a topic in a book other than the one you are currently viewing.
If you are searching for, say, Rule 3 of the Income Tax Act, you can type in R.3 in the Book Search box, from any topic in the Income-tax Act and click on the appropriate link below the Search Box.

Please Note: The Book Search facility searches the Topic Titles only, and not the full text of the Book.

Method 2:
Step 1: Click on the Magnifying Glass icon in the Top Frame. This takes you to the Library-wide full text search – and you can decide within which Book or Books you want to search for a particular section.

Step 2: Type in the name of the topic you want to reach (in this case, 115JAA). In the Search Book Dropdown box, select the Book or Books within which you want the search to be restricted. Let us say, you want to search within the Income-tax Act, 1961. Typing the first few characters of the Book you want to search in suffice to reach what you want. Select the Book name(s), and then click on the Library Search button. This is a powerful search feature. By default, it searches the entire Library.
